HIATT JACKSON

TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH MANAGER

Specialities

Earth science, geology and hydrology, remote sensing using geophysical techniques, data management and analysis.

Bio

As a Technology Research Manager, Hiatt will work with you to develop and support innovation projects, bringing together the right expertise to deliver a tailored package of support. Hiatt has a particular interest in increasing flood resilience through Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and Natural Flood Management (NFM).

DR.CHUN KEAT YEW

TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH MANAGER

Specialities

Electronics engineering, Earth observation, remote sensing, fourier transform infrared spectrometry, hyperspectral imaging, energy harvesting, drones/UAV, agritech/precision agriculture.

Bio

Chun is a passionate engineer who will work alongside your business to apply academic and industrial research into real-world applications. As a project scientist with the National Space Academy, Chun has extensive knowledge and expertise to help accelerate your flood innovation idea.

DR.ELENA KUVSHINOVA

TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH MANAGER

Specialities

Innovation management and marketing, chemical engineering, fluid flow, flow sensing, microscoping, rheology, spectrometry, computational fluid dynamics.

Bio

With extensive expertise in economics and chemical engineering, Elena draws on her experience in innovation management as well as her technical knowledge to support businesses to drive their ideas forward. Co-author of several acclaimed academic articles, Elena will help support your business, no matter what stage your project is at.

DR.KATE SMITH

RESEARCHER

Specialities

Qualitative ethnographic and participatory research, community arts practice, place- and time-based cultural expressions and behaviors, socio-cultural understanding of environmental hazards.

Bio

Kate obtained her PhD in cultural anthropology from the National Centre for English Cultural Tradition at the University of Sheffield in 2007, following her undergraduate degree in English Language with Medieval Literature. She has taught at Sheffield, Hull, and the Open Universities, and joined the Energy and Environment Institute at the University of Hull as a visiting researcher in 2018.

PIP BETTS

PROJECT MANAGER

Finances, communications, stakeholder relations, resource planning, economic development, European funding, marketing, PR.

Bio

Pip is an experienced funding programme and project manager and brings almost 15 years of regional economic development and European funding experience to the team. Pip is responsible for the successful delivery of the Flood Innovation Centre and will oversee all projects, ensuring your business gets the highest level of support.

ALEX CAMPTON

FINANCE & AUDIT OFFICER

Specialities

Finance, administration, technology, data management, accounts, STEM, compliance.

Bio

Alex has almost 20 years’ experience in finance and administration roles; working for various SMEs within the technology and services sectors. She has developed and maintained numerous financial and data management procedures throughout her career. Alex graduated from the Open University in 2018 with a BSc (Hons) Combined STEM and is currently working towards her ACCA qualification.

LIZZIE FINDLAY

ADMINISTRATION OFFICER

Administration, data management and collection, team support and customer service.

Bio

With a wide range of experience in administrative tasks, including supporting teams in establishing and maintaining administrative systems, and collecting data, Lizzie will be there to ensure your application is pushed through the right systems, enabling you to develop your idea into a viable solution.

LIZ JOHNSON

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Commercial development, sales, business growth, business management

Bio

Liz will use her University expertise to maximise opportunities for the commercialisation of new innovations in the flood resilience sector. Liz will work closely with your business and the Technical Research Managers to scope out the project and as the assignment continues, develop key account activity liaising with all parties to ensure completion is delivered on time and within budget.
